Mercedes launches the New GLC, which it represents modern and sporty exclusivity under every aspect. It is the most dynamic car in the successful family of Mercedes-Benz SUVs, as can be seen from the design, with unique proportions, taut surfaces, precise edges, fine and well-defined interiors. The car also convinces with driving performance and efficiency.
Mercedes GLC is available exclusively in hybrid version: as plug-in or mild hybrid with 48-volt technology and integrated starter-alternator. Plug-in hybrid models offer a range of over 100 kilometers (WLTP), perfect for electric city driving on daily commutes. And that’s not all, because the new Mercedes SUV also travels perfectly on any road surface, guaranteeing comfort and agility of travel.
The latest generation technology on board
The class of the New GLC is evident in every detail. The very latest generation of the MBUX infotainment system (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) makes it even more digital and intelligent, while the hardware and software have improved considerably: brilliant views on the center display and the driver’s display make it easier to manage the comfort functions and the vehicle.
Both LCD screens offer a consistent aesthetic experience, with information represented in a structured and well-defined way. Full screen navigation guarantees the driver the best possible orientation. Augmented Reality MBUX for navigation, it is offered as optional equipment: a camera detects the area in front of the car and the central display shows the images integrating them with virtual objects, information and demarcation signs.
The capacity for dialogue and learning of thevoice assistant “Hey Mercedes” is based on the most modern algorithms, adapting better and better to the user’s needs. Music streaming services can be integrated into MBUX, so that the customer can also listen to his favorite music on board. The new Mercedes me “Tourguide” function is interesting: at the voice command “Hey Mercedes, start Tourguide”, the MBUX Infotainment system responds by reading information on places of interest along the way. With the Smart Home MBUX function, the customer can connect his home automation system with his GLC, thus remotely controlling temperature, lighting and electrical appliances.
The design of the New GLC
The standard equipment includes the AVANTGARDE exterior with chrome package including chrome window surround and new bumper protection. These are details that enhance the car’s proportions. The design highlights of the GLC include the new front end with headlights that connect directly to the radiator grille and accentuate the width of the car, and the new radiator grille, equipped for the first time with a chrome frame and sporty louvre in matt gray with decorative chrome inserts. The AMG Line version features a radiator grille with integrated Mercedes-Benz Pattern and Mercedes star.
The modern and sporty interior
The interior of the new generation of the successful Mercedes GLC SUV in the AVANTGARDE version expresses modern and sporty exclusivity. The instrument panel is clearly structured: the upper section has a wing profile with new flattened round vents reminiscent of aircraft turbines, while the lower section is enhanced by large decorative elements that flow harmoniously into the curved center console. The 12.3-inch high-resolution LCD screen, in front of the driver, appears to hover in front of the airfoil and decorative elements. The 11.9-inch center display rises seamlessly from the center console and also appears to hover above the trim section.
The engines of the new generation Mercedes GLC SUV
The car is only available in a hybrid version: as plug-in hybrid or mild hybrid with 48-volt technology and integrated starter-alternator. The engine range includes four-cylinder power units from the Mercedes-Benz modular model family called FAME (Family of Modular Engines). The four mild hybrid engines feature a second generation integrated starter-alternator (ISG) which offers effective support in the low-rev range. Three other engines are of the plug-in hybrid type with an additional electric power of 100 kW and an electric range of over 100 kilometers.
The best-selling SUV of the House also receives fourth generation plug-in hybrid drive. Using the same basic motors, electrification takes another big step forward here. With an electric drive power of 100 kW now, a torque of 440 Nm and an electric-only range of more than 100 kilometers (WLTP), daily journeys can largely be covered in electric-only mode.
