Sangiovanni in Cremona: butterflies fly in the square

CREMONA – Good the second. Although with less attendance than yesterday’s square (the 24-hour postponement of the concert forced many to give up) Sangiovanni went on time on the stage in piazza del Comune to kick off what actually turned into the closing party of the long summer tour of the singer from Vicenza.

The first words were those dedicated to the fans – “thank you for coming back tonight” – with many apologies for the sudden indisposition that yesterday prompted the organizers to postpone the performance by one day. An expectation that has amply repaid the public – composed above all of very young and very young – with a particularly generous live and marked by successes such as Farfalle and Malibu.

The Sangiovanni fever, on the other hand, broke out on Sunday well before the concert start time. In fact, those who had passed near Piazza Stradivari, at the height of Via Baldesio, would have noticed, already in the middle of the morning, an improvised picnic by a group of young fans intent on passing the time to grab the best and most coveted places in square, those close to the stage. The small group then gradually widened over the course of the long and hot day, and already around 5.30pm a small crowd was waiting standing and in patient and rigorous order for the rite of opening the gates to begin. A scene that was repeated on time also yesterday afternoon.

All unequivocal signs of a phenomenon that this year really seems unstoppable: Sangiovanni, pseudonym of John Peter Damian, very young from Vicenza, born in 2003, has been chewing music since he was sixteen, he started his race towards success with the singles Paranoia, Non + and Guccy Bag in 2020, finding a formidable springboard in participating in the twentieth edition of talent show Friends of Maria De Filippi. The last edition of the Sanremo Festival was only the consecration to a wider audience that no longer looks to listeners only from the youth range: Farfalle, the song brought to the festival, had earned Sangiovanni fifth place turning into a hit snapshot.

The new Italian wave of Sangiovanni now leaves the square to the great song with Gianna Nannini, arriving on Thursday evening on the same stage. Both concerts are part of the mini show Siamo Fuori !, which last year had brought to Cremona Willie Peyote And Francesco De Gregori.
